Admiral Imports has announced that it has released Late Harvest 2008, a new dessert wine produced by Chilean winery Luis Felipe Edwards. The new item, which is the first dessert wine from the progressive producer, makes a rich and elegant offering for the end of a meal.

Luis Felipe Edwards Late Harvest is a blend of Viognier (75%) and Sauvignon Blanc (25%) from the Colchagua Valley. The grapes, affected by botrytis, were harvested by hand during the first and second weeks of June 2008 and the pressed juice contained 420g/l sugar prior to fermentation. Following fermentation, the wine was refined in French oak barrels for four months.

The wine's aroma is reminiscent of apricot, peach and citrus fruits. On the palate, it is viscous and elegant with sweet notes of honey and raisin harmoniously balanced by firm acidity. Meant to be enjoyed lightly chilled after a meal, it is pairs especially well with fruit, pastries and biscotti. Luis Felipe Edwards Late Harvest is available in 375ml bottles and will retail for a suggested price of $19.99. The total production is limited to 450 12-bottle cases, 240 of which were allocated to the USA.

“Late Harvest” will complement the already successful Luis Felipe Edwards brand which includes the “Reserva” line featuring a Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Carmenere with suggested retail pricing of $9.99; the “Rosa Blanca,” a Cabernet Sauvignon made with organically grown grapes which retails for a suggested price of $11.99; the “Family Selection” line featuring Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz with suggested retail pricing of $13.99; and “Dona Bernarda,” a proprietary blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Carmenere and Petit Verdot with suggested retail pricing of $28.99.

Established in 1976, Luis Felipe Edwards is undeniably one of the most progressive wineries in Chile. Always keen to invest in land, technology and people, the Colchagua Valley based winery remains a family run operation, allowing greater control to ensure that the Luis Felipe Edward brand name is synonymous with quality and traditional family values.
